Announcing Howard Marks & Friends, a very special one-off event at the Kentish Town Forum on the 27th February 2015. Following last weekend’s Observer Interview in which Howard revealed that he had inoperable cancer, many of his friends have come together to celebrate an extraordinary life with the man himself.
Screen legend Rhys Ifans, who memorably immortalised Howard on celluloid in the film adaptation of Mr Nice, will be joined by members of the Super Furry Animals, including Daf’s latest project The Earth, Cian Ciaran and Bunf, who will all be performing throughout the evening. There will also be DJ sets from Hacienda legend Greg Wilson and Good Times kingpin Norman Jay, with many more acts to be announced soon. We’re also very pleased to announce, that fittingly for an event celebrating his life, the show will be capped by an appearance from Howard himself, making Howard Marks & Friends completely unmissable.

Following last month’s announcement introducing our new show, Common People, we’re massively excited to unveil our stellar inaugural line-up, featuring world renowned DJs, pop behemoths, underground legends, and more, all with lashings of Bestival’s unique magic, mayhem and merriment thrown in for good measure. A two-day metropolitan adventure, set in the verdant surrounds of Southampton Common, the all-inclusive clarion call of Common People will spread our Besti love, unifying party lovers across the south coast and beyond, for a truck load of bank holiday high jinx this 23rd & 24th May.
Common People curator, Rob da Bank said: ‘It’s been a long time coming to launch a new show from the Bestival family. We thought long and hard before deciding to base our new show in Southampton… I played my first ever DJ gig in Southampton when I was 16, so this is a real home coming for me.

It might be cold outside but things are really hotting up at Camp Bestival HQ! It’s all coming together for what is destined to be the wildest Camp Bestival yet, and boy do we have a gargantuan line-up announcement planned for early January. But because we’re just a bit too excited, and because it’s Christmas, we want to give you a tempting taster of what’s to come announcing two pretty special headliners and just some arts fun that will be gracing Camp Bestival Goes Wild this 30th July – 2nd August at Lulworth Castle on Dorset’s stunning Jurassic coast.
Rob da Bank says: “Here we go again, my wild and wonderful friends! It’s all getting pretty festive down at Camp Bestival HQ, and whilst we were sat in front of a blazing fire eating too many chocolates we thought why not spill the beans on just a smidgen of the acts that will play Camp Bestival 2015… So, without further ado, let’s intro Clean Bandit as our Friday night headliner who are gonna knock it out the castle with their string led electronic knees up, moving onto Saturday and our special guests will be the riotous Kaiser Chiefs and closing it all down in spectacular fashion one of my favourite acts of all time, Underworld, who are a blistering live act 20 years on from dubnobasswithmyheadman. Prepare to get Born Slippy and pretty wild! Have a fantastic Xmas all my Camp Besti buddies”.
Announcing a Brand New Festival for Southampton
A Grand Day Out from the Bestival Family
We are over the moon to announce a brand new show from the multi-award winning Bestival team; Common People. Taking place on the Bank Holiday weekend of 23rd and 24th May, and set on Southampton Common, Common People will be a glorious two-day metropolitan festival, uniting all tribes under the Southampton sky, bringing the blithe spirit of Bestival right to the heart of the city.
Common People curator Rob da Bank commented: “I’m delighted to announce that we are launching a new festival in Southampton next year, our first new venture since we started Camp Bestival seven years ago. We have been inundated with offers to start new festivals every year but it wasn’t until we found the beautiful site of the Common that we felt it was right to start a new chapter in Bestival’s history. This isn’t a camping show, it’s not a tents, wellies and car packed to the rafters experience… it’s a metropolitan two day show easy to access and open to all ages, compact but packed with experiences and priced very, very reasonably. We can’t wait to unveil our headliners and star cast for our first Common People show in May. Watch this space”
It’s official! Camp Bestival is the UK’s Best Family Festival for the second year running!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted in the Festival Awards and to all the families who came this year and made Camp Bestival such a special event. See you in 2015! X

CAMP BESTIVAL’S ADVENT CALENDAR WONDER
Inspired by our love of getting out into the open air and running free, Team CB are extremely excited to announce a brilliant new theme that’s very close to all of our hearts. That’s right, we’re putting Mother Nature front and centre for 2015, as Camp Bestival Goes Wild!
Camp Bestival’s own wild man Rob da Bank says: “Calling all wild boys and wild girls…oh yes my wild friends and family, prepare to get down and dirty at Camp Bestival 2015 as we dump the technology and scramble into the woods for a back to nature escape from normality. We’ll have golden chances to bond with your kids in the mud kitchen, sleep under the stars with your mates and family, and take part in tons of wild activities. Release your inner wild thing and see you in July!”
The pioneer of the bootleg ‘cut-up’ mixing style, DJ Yoda – aka Duncan Beiny – joins the roster of 6 Mix residents, bringing his turntable trickery to Friday nights.
His seminal ‘How To Cut & Paste’ series of CD releases showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style with his influences ranging from funk, reggae and drum ‘n’ bass to big band swing and Country & Western. Read more

ROB DA BANK RECEIVES OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION AT THE FESTIVAL CONGRESS AWARDS
Off the back of one of the finest festivals we’ve ever put on, 2014 is shaping up to be a truly bumper year for Bestival, scooping two awards at two different awards shows in the last week, with Bestival bossman da Bank in on the award action, too.
First up at the prestigious Live Music Business Awards in front of the great and the good from the UK live scene, we were very honoured indeed to pick up the award for Best Festival in the 40,000+ capacity category. Being recognised for the effort that the Bestival team puts into the show is something we’re massively grateful for, so big thanks to everyone at Live UK.
But it didn’t stop there, this weekend at the Association of Independent Festivals’ inaugural Festival Congress Awards, Bestival picked up the Smart Marketing Campaign of the Year for our world record breaking Disco Ball efforts, which is an accolade we’re all very proud of. Not only that though, Bestival curator Rob da Bank was also recognised by the awards panel for his Outstanding Contribution to the festival scene, something which we hope you’ll agree is richly deserved.
