ROB DA BANK’S MUSIC CLUB

We’re very pleased to announce that one of Camp Bestival’s most exclusive areas, The Den, is returning by popular demand to Lulworth Castle for its third year. Dedicated to 13-17 year-olds, The Den is a secret festival within a festival, featuring an alluring array of live music, DJs, workshops, talks and activities. And it’s the epitome of the teenage dream; no adults allowed!

Rob da Bank says: “The Den is one of the best bits of Camp Bestival and I would spend all my time there but I’m not allowed in… From ace music and DJs like Kiko Bun, Dawson and Katy Wilson to all the amazing things you can have a go at like looping masterclasses, Lizzie King Tie Dye Mayhem and my music club, it’s the ultimate teenage escape!”

There will be live reggae music from iTunes Chart topper Kiko Bun, plus inspiring How To! sessions from Teen Do in an exclusive collaboration with the teenage brainchild of the awesome Do Lectures. DIY festival fashion and craft workshops with East London creative crew Use It Up Wear It Out, chromatic joy with Lizzie King Tie Dye Mayhem, and hoola hooping games and party tricks on the dancefloor with the amazing Marawa’s Majorettes, who will be accompanied on the wheels of steel by the incredible 16-year-old DJ, Katy Wilson.

Loop pedal champion Dawson will be showcasing his mesmerising skills, and there will be an incredible Loop Pedal Masterclass from him too. We have spoken word from performer of the moment and BBC Radio 1Xtra favourite Joe Beaumont-Howell. Author of the incredibly popular teen fiction series Geek Girl, Holly Smale will run a Creative Writing Masterclass, and Inspo Corner will give you the lowdown from Britain’s youngest head chef Luke Thomas.

Floor-filling DJ action will come courtesy of Collective 23, and we’ll have a special UK festival exclusive from Emily Barr with her sensational young adult fiction The One Memory of Flora Banks, with chances to win advanced copies of the book. There will also be sublime poetry from the Roundhouse Poetry Collective, more dancefloor mayhem from DJ Che Mac, brilliant new music from singer-songwriter siblings Max & Harvey Mills, and don’t miss the chance to record your own tracks at the Songshack.

Rob da Bank’s Music Club returns to The Den once again this year, with a series of in depth masterclasses and workshops including hip-hop philosophy, singing lessons, MC workshops, guitar lessons and the chance to make your own music video. As the man himself, Rob da Bank says: “My Music Club is the place to be at Camp Bestival if you’re between 13 and 17 years old and want to get into music, or just hang out and be inspired – it’s that simple. Be there!”

Chuckle Brothers Day

chuckle

IN CELEBARTION OF THEIR APPEARANCES AT BESTIVAL, CAMP BESTIVAL & COMMON PEOPLE

WE DECLARE THURSDAY 5th May

CHUCKLE BROTHERS’ DAY

We officially declare Thursday 5th of May Chuckle Brothers’ Day!

Rob da Bank says: “I’m not sure if there’s an emoji for ‘wetting yourself laughing’ yet but we need one for the Chuckle Brothers. I booked them as a bit of a laugh last year but they drew one of the biggest crowds of the weekend and had to do about 1000 selfies afterwards for some rabid fans. I’m still not sure I understand it all but i do love ‘em, and had to get them for all of our shows this year!”

Camp Bestival, that’s where! Strangely, with everything else that’s going on around the site, the Dingle Dell appears to have a giant kids-magnet in it, pulling everyone towards nature. Making Bestival the festival to discover new music is a big part of what keeps us buzzing. Finding an incredible new band that could change your life, or that one amazing unknown track that will blow everyone away is something that our intrepid curator Rob da Bank has made his life’s work. With his monumental musical knowledge helping him to sniff out a cornucopia of mysterious gems, Rob’s track record for discovering the next big thing is unparalleled, and the Invaders of the Future stage is Bestival’s cathedral of cutting edge sounds where you’ll find this year’s selection of bright young things who could just be your new favourite band in The Future.

Rob da Bank says: “Yup, we all love a stonking big headliner at Bestival, and huge DJs and bands that have sold millions of records smashing it on our stages, but mostly where you’ll find me across the weekend at Bestival is in our Invaders stage checking out the new bands. Once more we’ve gone mentally diverse from Radio 1 and SXSW darling’s Danny L Harle, Pup and Sunflower Bean through the amazing Eska and a takeover from the hottest label out there, PC Music, to local island talent Born Ina Barn and Xockha. See you down the front!”

Predicting something very special as we charge inexorably towards The Future, the Bestival crew are set to whet your appetite with a hearty helping of amazing bands and DJs that will be joining The Cure Major Lazer, Diplo, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Bastille, Skepta, Wolf Alice and many more at Robin Hill this coming September.

Rob da Bank says: “I love booking Bestival. It’s proper ‘kid in a sweetshop’ time when I look at all the acts out there and try to curate a line-up that makes sense across many genres… which is how I think Bestivalites like it. It’s not just booked for you, it’s for me too, so I cannot wait for a weekend encompassing Kano, Goldie, Mura Masa, Evian Christ and Reggie and Bollie. If you fancy it too, I’ll see you on the ferry!”
