AARDMAN FILMS PRESENT ’A GRAND DAY OUT’

Our intrepid Camp Bestival crew have been travelling through the universe in search of the very best space-based entertainment to thrill and enthral one and all when we head in to Outer Space this July 28-31 at Lulworth Castle, Dorset. So, we’re delighted to reveal a host of astronomical entertainment joining Fatboy Slim, Tears for Fears, Jess Glynne, Aliens Love Underpants, Dick and Dom, Mr Tumble and more, as we journey to the stars…

Chief space cadet Rob da Bank says: “I absolutely love all the art, theatre and workshops that go on at Camp Bestival, and this year our Creative Crew have hit really escape velocity, filling our brand new Mission Control tent with some seriously spacey goings on. From Albert’s Band blasting us off into a supernova of sound on the Castle Stage and the intriguing Wonders of Space to the Urban Astronaut and Cosmic Crafts, not forgetting all the rocket building and space postcards in between, we’re almost set for lift off. Watch this space!”

Starting from Scratch – A Live DJ TV Series

Globally respected UK hip-hop DJ, producer and turntablist DJ Yoda is involved a project called ‘Starting from Scratch’ and is currently supporting the team looking for three talented DJs to be filmed as part of the promo for this new competition TV series idea.

The projects concept will test DJs on their creativity and technical ability specifically in the style of mash-up and turntablism. Unlike usual DJ sets, each participant uses the same playlist challenging them to create a multi-genre, five minute mix in a set time limit. DJs can use as many tracks as they like, but must include at least one track from the four different genres. It’s about how different DJs interpret and combine the tracks to create their own unique mix.

All potential candidates must be:

  • familiar with Serato
  • competent at scratching
  • comfortable doing a mash-up
  • capable of combining different genres with varying tempos

To be considered for filming, please enter a two minute mix, including four different genres (one of which must be hip-hop) and examples of scratching.

All entries need to be submitted for review to SFS16@Outlook.com via a downloadable WeTransfer link by Friday 5th February. When uploading, in the message section include your name, e-mail address and contact phone number.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ENTRY IS TO TAKE PART IN THE PROMO FILMING NOT THE COMPETITION ITSELF

The filming is due to take place on Wednesday 24th February between 10am-3pm at DJ Yoda’s restaurant Austen’s BBQ, 109 Chamberlayne Road, London, NW10 3NS. http://austensbbq.co.uk/. DJ Yoda will be present for filming.

If you have any questions or want to chat this through please call Harry on 07917154483 and SFS16@Outlook.com

#Bestival16

The omens are good, The Future is happening. With Bestival 2016’s Future theme unveiled, we can hurtle headlong into the good times, revealing two massive headliners and an incredible cast of musical pioneers, forward thinking funksters and precognitive pop stars, who will be journeying with us into Bestival’s glamourous machine age, where everlasting gobstoppers signal eternal bliss, this September 8-11, disembarking from Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight.

Future swashbuckler Rob da Bank says: “So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far… far away… into the future. Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre. Saturday night headliners and one of my favourite bands ever, The Cure, played Bestival five years ago and almost had to be dragged off stage after a three-hour mammoth greatest hits set. Robert Smith popped down last year and we shook hands on it all happening again… bring it on!

Common People head honcho Rob da Bank says: “So, we were already off to a flyer with Common People selling out last year, announcing a second site this year, with our beautiful South Park location in Oxford, overlooking the dreaming spires, and now we’re putting the cherry on top with the news that Duran Duran will be headlining a day in each city! Icons of the last four decades the boys are still churning out hits and absolutely smashed it at our mothership show Bestival last year.
